The interesting question we have going in to October, November and December will be if the Daniel Farke system of play that allows the fullbacks the licence to drive forward down to the by-line and cross the ball in or cut inside the wide forwards to provide that extra body in the box suit the only true senior left back at the club. Technically Firpo style off football actually well suit to this Farkes game tactics.
Since joining us Firpo while being somewhat uncoordinated in defending one on one he did show great motor in both getting forward and also getting back. If we strictly look at his movements on the attacking end and some of the balls he did put in (no striker there) then he is the right left back for the system. If we can first get him fit and then get his confidence up I believe we have the right man to shine in the Championship.
Look at this from a non Leeds united fan view point. Actually analysing his movements, crossing and attacking positioning and you will be surprised. Defence body shape is his issue but not his actual desire or attitude.
Thoughts and comments?
So after watching the first and second game from our new front man Pireo, I am of the opinion that while he can operate at the 10 position he is well and truly a number 9. If he is on the last man's shoulder and in the box he will.l score. Think he is wasted playing deeper.
Midfielders: noticed at time last season at Gladbach farke operated with 2 box to box CM' and a defensive CM who dropped and split the 2 CB's.
The system required that both box to box have ability to receive the ball and move it forward to the wide players quickly or recycle it back through the wider CB's and deep DCM. Each of the 2 CM 5ake turns in advancing to the ACM role depending on side of the field the play is going down.
Fullbacks: depending on the foot prefor the winger decides if they become over lapping by line crossers or cut inside extra midfielder.
Wingers: This is the position where another of his teams goals are created or scored from. If the RW is by line crossing then LW is expected to be just outside the 6 yard box t the back post as a second striker. Basically the same at the other side. When the winger cut inside then they are expected to become inside forwards who bypass the the tradition 9 similar to how Bowyer did in the past.
Then there was the formation where he a true forward who is drop back 10. This p.ayer when he dropped was a one touch type player. Highly intelligent with the ability to snap a shot of from range in a split second or push a simple pass. He had Lars Stindl for this last season. Believe he trying to make Rutter into that but gave Gelthardt that chance early but he did not understand. Think in our u21's we have 2 youngster who can play the role in Charlie Allen and McGurk but need 10 minutes of game time in the first team each week to be ready by seasons end.
The other thing to look is what Farke does with Archie Grey, Charlie Crewe who are both exceptional midfield talent. Joseph who is a number 9 and ready for game time. All 3 have high level alert and need correct development. Add Hjelda, Cresswell, and Gyabi to that as well. Perkins if he get real game time at his loan had it correct as he should develop with regular football.
Will be interesting to see which way he plays.
