So according to SSN, Gnonto is now back training with the first team squad, following a meeting between Kinnear, Farke and presumably Gnonto. I can only deduce from this is that they have told Gnonto he will be sold in January providing he puts in a shift for the team until then, if he was going to be sold in the next few days why bother including him with the team??
This is of course is only one side of the coin and I'm not sure a fair proportion of the fans will forgive him for deserting us in our hour of need over the last couple of weeks.
Unduoubtedly he has acted like a right pr*ck over the Everton saga, although I suspect that a greedy agent with a % of any fee is probably pushing the buttons. To my mind he should put out a statement to the fans, firstly to apologise unreservedly for his behaviour and maybe for him to try and let us know the reasons behind wanting to move.
It's only pure speculation on my behalf and no doubt he will be sold within the next 48 hours!!
Was watching Spurs game and think if I was Gnonto's agent I would be pushing him if possible towards them. My reasons being are as followed
Spurs current style of play suits Gnonto's.
They needs a leftsided attacking talent.
He would be paired up with his international team mate on the left side for both club and country which further his development.
They have the mo ey to afford him.
His bad ankle didn't look to bad at the end of the game dancing around with his mate
Got a few minutes at the end of the italy game
The player's agent went public after the club did, and after quite a lengthy time lag. Big difference.
I have no issue with the club playing hardball suggesting the best transfer fee. My concern is with the public vilification of a teenager. Our club didn't need to do that. Biesla would never have done that.
As for the parents, I am sure they are 100% behind their son and almost certainly intricately involved in the process.
Here is my take.
Leeds united paid 3.5 million up front. Have a obligation to pay a further 1.5m based on his international appearance this past summer. They also have a 25% sell on clause for his future sale.
Leeds wanted 30m minimum which can cover his wages paid thus far, advertising of his skill set to a greater audience, cover his add summer clauses & sell on clauses and still make enough to buy a replacement.
Gnonto's agent as history with continuing to move his clients around club to club to make sale money and this is especially the case for players under 21. There are a Couple of players who have come out to say that moves they took based on his advice ended their careers.
Farke, knowing the closeness of Summerville, Rutter and Gnonto wanted to ensure the club that the other 2 did not have their head turned pushed for a example to be made. This ensured that all squad members understood that no individual is above all and that Leeds United are no longer a charity for others to plunder while also pushing Gnonto to understand that as a professional he need to conduct himself in a appropriate way.
We must remember that a 30m deal would only see us getting 17m of it after all is said and done.
Personally I would have kept him out of the squad and training until fter the window closed.
It is important to highlight that he's only 19, still in his teens and barely an adult. He may not have been given the best advice either. He is also being told by his national manager to get a club in a higher division. And while he may be paid handsomely, there is still a duty of care which I would question was missing. This should all have been done behind closed doors. We did not need to know any of this. The club's statement was unnecessary and the result is that a teenager with a career ahead of him is being labelled a hate figure.
I see no good reason to forcibly keep him at Leeds against his will. He will just be a very disgruntled member of the squad and one costing the club a hefty wage. Thank him, sell him, and move on.
