Social media comments (probably clickbait) saying that KP on the verge of joining Villa on £130k per week. Who knows how true this is, but no smoke without fire.
For me, Kalvin seems to be the one person who has been greatly affected by the removal of Bielsa and I'm not sure he is a fan of Jesse's method of playing.
Afterall, MB took a player who we would happily have sold about 3.5 years ago and turned him into an England regular and one of the most sought after players in the Premiership, so deep down he would have been badly affected by his departure and probably Cooper/Bamford.
I guess we will know sooner or later!
Grealish went to City and effectively has spent alot of time on the bench, you could argue Kalvin & Rice have cemented their place in the English setup because of that.
All managers are the same, players have to be playing not warming a bench City have played 57 games this year but JG has only started 31 of them.
If i was advising Kalvin id be saying small steps, move to the likes of Arsenal, spurs, somewhere he would be a regular football (in Europe to give him more experience on that side of things) and that should still keep him in the frame when Garth Southgate is thinking of English squads. I mean who in their right mind would have said when MB took at ER that Kalvin Philips would be in the english set up?
If Kalvin really wants to challenge for titles etc then he will leave this summer. Realistically we are not going to challenge the likes of Liverpool or City anytime soon (even if we do stay up)
true guy, Dallas is a major loss and to get him back, whenever that will be, will be a major boost to the team.
He would be one of the first names on the teamsheet for me
Couldn't agree more Bull.
The back-up keeper perhaps shouldn't cost too much, at least if we can get a decent one in on loan.
The left-back position also needs sorting (especially with our back-up LB out for 6 months).
I don't see Kalvin leaving "if" we stay up, Rapha is gone already in my eyes.
Wont blame Kalvin in going if we go down as everyone knows that if he did then he would be saying goodbye to his international career and for me that would be terrible shame.
Think Rodders, llorente, firpo, costa, & Tyler regardless where we are playing next season must be shown the door.
Llorente could be ok in the championship but the others are bang average even for championship they would be found wanting.
Think we need a serious cleanout this summer, its going to cost alot but it needs to be done, this squad is running on empty and "if" the board / manager think these players would win back instant promotion i'm afraid they will be caught with their pants down like they have been this season.
We need at least one more striker, ok Paddy will be like a new signing, but what if he gets another injury next year? whats the plan? James up top again? That hasn't and wont work...
We badly need another Keeper, Mesiler needs serious competition i know he is only 20 and a good lad and a great servant but he needs pushing.
Biggest hole in our squad and has been since Pablo & siaz left is a creative general,
These 3 players is a minimum and i would hazard a guess that 80m wouldn't buy all three players that LUFC need "if" the ambition is to challenge top half of the PL.
Europe is a long way off the grasp of LUFC for that id say 7-8 of our first xi need changing. and that dosen't happen in one transfer window, that's a 2-3 year plan.
Since the injury he certainly hasn't got anywhere near his best.
Having said that, we need to have a look at who's with him in the center of midfield. The lack of mobility, pace and defensive knowhow in our middle stands out and is one of the reasons why teams get through us with such ease.
If we do manage to survive, he might stay if we offer him a better contract and perhaps equally important show some real ambition.
When he leaves it will be for a club playing for trophies.
Yea and you said Burnley were already down.
That's what was said last year, the year before last, and the year before that.
He is going, get your heads around it.
I wouldn't read anything into the players' body language. Both Phillips and Raphinha know that if Leeds are relegated, then this was their last home game at Elland Road. It will all depend on where we finish at the end of the season. If we survive, I have no doubt Kalvin would happily stay.
The only reason Kalvin Phillips would go to Villa would be go work and learn from Gerrard. If it is money he wants then ManU or Newcastle may offer what would set him up but he not the type to sign for ManU. If Arsenal come knocking then he may be tempted to join Ben White. If we stay up and restructure our team and manger then he'd probably stay.
Personally think he was not right to return from injury yet and only has done so because of our position. If you watch him you see he is not moving 100% especially when ne plants that leg before passing.
I'm sure he wouldn't leave if we stayed up as we'd apparently have money to spend in the summer from the 49ers....there's no way they'd let us get in another relegation battle if we stayed up.
Villa have just bought Coutinho on massive wages so how will they afford Kalvin as well? If we stayed up Villa would be a VERY sideways step....
Kalvin has been very poor since coming back from injury but will come good again.... hopefully for us!!
I thought his body language at the end of the match was worrying. He looked emotional and separate from the main team, he stayed with Raphinha out on the pitch for a while soaking it in.
my first reaction was he’s leaving and he knows already.
If Kalvin leaves Leeds, it won't be for Villa.
