There has not just been an overhaul in the playing staff but Marsch has been revamping his management team this summer. The latest is Michael Skubala's appointment as u23 manager. Formerly the FA's Development coach, this is quite a coup for LUFC and demonstrates club commitment to making the u23s a success. Acting u23 Boss Andrew Taylor, returns to his role as loans manager.
Austrian Rene Maric is also expected to come in as Assistant Coach. At 29, he's younger than many of our players, but has still had time to coach at Borussia Dortmund, Borussia Manchengladbach, Red Bull Salzburg and TSU Handenberg. He will replace Frankie Schiemer who is continuing to work as a coaching consultant from afar.
Ewan Sharp has also arrived over the summer as Coach. One year older than Maric at 30, he's worked at Man Yoo, Lokomotiv Moscow, and a host of American clubs. Pierre Barrieu is the new fitness coach - comparatively elder statesman, aged 50, who has previously coached at Swansea and Sheffield Wednesday as well as the US National Team, LA Galaxy and New York Red Bulls.
Mark Jackson and Cameron Toshack have signed new contracts and continue as First Team coaches. Marcos Abad and Alessandro Barcherini remain as the goalkeeping coaches.
Observations - it's a management team that Jesse is very familiar with. They bring a host of experience from the USA. And, the emphasis is all on youth - young coaches, young players, giving youth a chance.
39 year old Lee Dykes, Brentford Football supremo, rumoured to be in advanced talks.
This is leftfield for me - I had only ever heard Webber would be coming over from Norwich to reunite with Farke, but this could be a major coup and one we should all welcome.
Brentford are pretty much world leaders in talent aquisition and punching above their weight. This guy has been at the centre of it since 2018 so let's keep our fingers crossed!
Leeds may bring in Fabian Otte to replace Abad?
Also gone are Guillermo Alonso and Jordan Davison.
Not fussed about Abad, our goalkeepers seemed to go backwards under his tutelage. A VO appointment when he first came in as DoF but it was just because they were mates.
Gallardo was not great too. Leading a LUFC side to promotion was not a major achievement given the talent available to him.
Gallardo and Abad both gone. Surprised at that. We've no goalkeeping coach at all. Wonder if Skubula will go back to being the u21 manager.
Aramas not in the building as Gracia stamps his authority
Another expensive mistake as club back JM to the end even though the fans knew in December he should have gone.
The guy that the "other Prem Club's" playes apparently dubbed "Ted Lasso" is now our new first team coach replacing Jackson.
Welcome Chris Aramas!
Leeds set to appoint Paco Gallardo as a coach.
42 years old and has coached Seville's Academy, C Team and B Team and has a great reputation for developing players.
Will work with the first team, U21s and U18s and is hoped will help the academy players transition better to the first team.
Spam Byram
Didn't Jesse Marsh and the board agree to create a new coaching position for Cameron Toshack where ever single player from the 21's up are required every week to receive individual training and development plans. The plans are based on the week before training and match performance. Basically individual extra programs which has everything including video footage for better comprehension. Biomechanics also included.
Jesse said it in one of his interviews...
Think the new guy in charge of the U21s is a genius! Great coach!
Another appointment, albeit not to the coaching staff. Lyndon Tomlinson is the new Head of National Academy. we lured him from Man City to replace Paul Midgely who err left to take up the Head of National Academy post at Man City.
Have we got a love in for Man City!
Alessandro Barcherini has gone, maybe the new older goalkeeper will take on a coaching role too?
Carlos Corberan appointed new manager of Olympiacos, no hero's return to Elland Road for him.
Alas! Your list is already out of date Smurf.
Barcherini has just left
By my understanding, our coaching line up now looks as follows:
Manager - Jesse Marsch
Assistant Head Coach - René Marić
First Team Coach - Mark Jackson
Assistant Coach - Cameron Toshack
Assistant Coach - Ewan Sharp
Goalkeeping Coach - Marcos Abad
Assistant Goalkeeping Coach - Alessandro Barcherini
Loans Manager - Andrew Taylor
Coaching Consultant - Franz Schiemer
Fitness Coach - Pierre Barrieu
Fitness Coach - Ruben Crespo
u21s Manager - Michael Skubala
u18s Manager - Scott Gardner
René Marić officially unveilled as Assistant Head Coach.
I'm pleased with the relative experience and quality of these candidates - we should have expected this to happen given that MB left Leeds and took 9 members of staff with him, so JM has needed to get bums on seats - so to speak.
