Heard a interesting little thing about our ref from this game. Looking over his history. If he has a player crying and acting like a baby early in the games and arguing about everything that player will not get any calls unless they are so obvious. This explains Gnontos and Ayling no calls.
On a positive note.
How good was it to see us being able to bring off Gnonto and Summerville and bring on equally as dangerous in different way true substitutes?
Or the fact we could bring on experienced (games wise not age) midfield substitutes during the game?
Best of all even though it is early days. Rondon and Struijk have a decent balance between them at CB. Left foot, right foot combination.
Byram experience shows as he seems to understand space and his movements to become available for the ball helps our CB's and CM's. If we could just get the right back to do the same it would free up ArchieG to attack alittle more.
Rutter style of a play is a cross between Gumby, Inspector Gadget and silky smooth grace. There is a smart footballer in there and with time and confidence could become destructive to defences. Anyone noticed that he seems to have bulked up a little through his legs and core.
Oh and while I am not his fan I got give Ayling credit for that nice little inside out pass in the first half over the defender to Summerville.
I don't think there was any poor performances on Sunday. I feel sorry for BabyShacks not playing but according to Farke he was carrying a strain and is being held back for next weekend. The front four all look good, and I think Gelhardt still/will have a big part to play. There's a lot of depth In the squad and cover for every position.
